NUTM Scholars Program

The NUTM Scholars Program (NSP) is a one-year full-time interdisciplinary postgraduate program in Technology, Entrepreneurship and Design. During the program, Scholars will learn and study concepts in technology, entrepreneurship and design, management and leadership. The NSP intends to groom stellar young leaders from a diverse range of backgrounds across Africa to be change agents for the region and the world.

Program Highlights


An entrepreneurship capstone project to enable Scholars build a venture from scratch during the NSP.

Shadow a Leader

A full-time opportunity to shadow senior leaders through a six week internship.

Global Immersion Week

A short study trip to a select location to gain exposure to international business and culture.

Writing Centre

Guest lectures, workshops and individual mentorship by eminent leaders and entrepreneurs.

Career Readiness

A workplace ready toolkit consisting of coursework, industry sessions, simulations, individual and group feedback.

NSP is delivered in partnership with the academic and industry institutions of global repute.

Admission Process

    Stage 1 Online Application

    Complete the online application form and provide information on your background, education, work experience, interests and motivations.
    There is NO application fee.
  • process step 2

    Stage 2 Online Assessment

    Shortlisted candidates from Stage 1 will be invited for an online assessment. The assessment will test learning agility, personality traits and critical thinking abilities.
  • process step 3

    Stage 3 Telephonic Interview

    Qualified candidates from Stage 2 will be invited for a 20 minute telephonic interview. The telephonic interview will evaluate your aspirations and suitability for the NSP.
  • process step 4

    Stage 4 Panel Interview

    The final stage is an in-person 20-minute interaction with a panel. At this stage, you will be assessed on your aptitude, leadership potential and motivation to attend the Program.

The Founding Class of the NUTM Scholars Program is being given full scholarships which includes tuition fee, course materials, housing, meals and the study trip.
Yes, if you have a Master’s degree or a doctoral degree you can apply for the Program.

English is the official language at NUTM. All instructions, applications, lectures and results will be delivered in English. We encourage all applicants to have an advanced level of English proficiency.

The status of your application will be communicated to you through email in due course. The earlier you apply within a deadline, the earlier your application will be reviewed.
The reviewers are looking for experiences and activities in the applicant’s life that showcase their excellence in academics and other areas including sports, performing or fine arts, science and technology, or commitment to social service, problem solving and helping others.
The interviews will refer to, but will not be limited to, the information and responses provided by you during the online application stage. Be prepared to answer specific questions on your essays and professional experience.
No. You can complete the online application in multiple sessions and have the option to save parts of the application as you proceed.
There is no predefined number. All potential Scholars will be called, evaluatd and progressed to the subsequent stages of the admissions process if found suitable.
NSP will be recruiting 60 Scholars.
No. The Program is intensive, and requires full-time commitment.
A post-graduate certificate in Technology, Entrepreneurship and Design will be awarded by NUTM upon successful completion of the NSP.
The workload during the NSP is expected to be intense and will vary based on your courses, TEDLab, Shadow a Leader, guest lectures, and other elements.
