Government Updates

For the latest information, please read the Nigerian Government’s response and for updates specific to the University, please see our guidelines below.

- Resumption of Residents

Testing is one of the most effective ways to identify and quarantine asymptomatic individuals thereby reducing the opportunity of transmission significantly. Prior to resumption, the Scholars and faculty are required to take a nasal swab Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test for the virus that causes COVID-19. This needs to be done within 72-96 hours of their resumption at the NUTM facility. In addition, upon arriving at the NSP facility, baseline tests will be administered by the NUTM’s healthcare partners and all residents will be required to stay in isolation until the test results are confirmed.

Safety on and off campus

We are sure many of you will be feeling anxious about travelling to the campus. Please be assured that we are complying with advice and instructions from government authorities to make sure our campus is a safe and happy environment for you to start your studies. Please familiarize yourself with the guidelines below before arriving at the NSP campus to protect yourself, friends, family and vulnerable members of the community.

Read our detailed safety guidance here.

The campus and its premises will be thoroughly sanitized before and after classes. Temperature checks will be conducted at entry and exit points at regular intervals. Facilities for sanitising hands will be available at classrooms and in the common areas. All members of the NUTM community will also be required to wear protective masks.

It is important for everyone to follow the guidelines on campus to keep themselves and others safe. We trust that all members of our community will follow necessary precautions. You may politely remind other members if you encounter a breach of these guidelines. If you still have concerns, write to us at nspteam@nutmng.org. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in disciplinary action.

Extra efforts will be made to disinfect and clean building spaces (offices, rooms, auditorium, etc). All work surfaces will be decontaminated twice daily. In most situations, this means once before work, and once after work has been concluded. All high-touch surfaces will be disinfected twice daily.

We are committed to the well-being and recovery of our team. A temporary quarantine room has been designated on campus for isolating suspected cases prior to evacuating them to an approved government facility for further attention and care. Any individual (faculty, staff, or student) experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should report this immediately to the COVID-19 Response Team (CRT), who will immediately provide the right support. For more information, read our guidelines here.

Yes. All NUTM students, faculty and staff will need to always wear a face mask while on campus to help prevent the spread of the virus--except when in your rooms, or if you need to eat or drink.
